In today’s blog we will be dealing with why you should never force anyone to talk to you in life.
I was recently at a birthday party, and ended up speaking to someone I hadn’t spoken with in over 2 years.
She had just been through a difficult breakup and we started talking about her relationship.
“I just don’t get it”, she said, “we’ve been together for months now and he still hasn’t opened up about his ex-girlfriend”.
I told her she should be happy that the guy wasn’t talking about his ex, because not all guys have the ability to move on from their past relationships.
Then she said something that made me think: “Well, if he doesn’t open up to me now, then when will he?”.
It was a great question. We’re taught that a relationship is built on openness, communication and trust. But is it really?
I’ll admit that I’m not much of a talker myself. It’s not like I’m completely closed off or anything, but I always feel weird talking about my feelings.
Maybe it’s because I don’t know how to express them, or maybe it’s just not what guys do. Either way, it’s never bothered me too much when people didn’t want to open up to me. Sure, there were times when I felt awkward or disconnected from other
If a person does not want to talk to you, that’s okay.
You can’t force someone to like you or love you.
You can’t force someone to care about you.
You can’t make someone be your friend or family member. And if they don’t want it, it will never work out anyway.
People have their own lives, their own problems and their own interests. Sometimes we are just not compatible with each other, and sometimes the timing is just wrong.
Forcing people to be in our lives is not going to work out for anybody. They will resent us for forcing them into things, and we will get mad at them because they aren’t being who we want them to be.
We need to leave people alone, and let them live their lives how they want to live them. We can’t fix them or save them if they don’t want us too.
If you’re the kind of person that always has to have the last word, or always has to make sure they’ve been heard, I’m here to tell you that you don’t need to do that.
There are some things in life that should be left unsaid, and there are some people that you shouldn’t force to talk to you.
If someone doesn’t want to talk to you, there’s probably a reason for it. Sometimes we need space and time away from others in order to gather our thoughts and get our perspective back.
Everyone has moments in their lives where they just want solitude. This doesn’t mean they hate you, it just means they need time alone. You should never force someone to talk to you or give you attention if they don’t want to give it.
It is also important for us not to force our opinions on others. We all have different beliefs, thoughts and feelings about many topics, but this does not mean we have the right or obligation to push our views on anyone else.
Sure, we can offer advice or suggestions, but when someone tells us no, we should respect their decision.
If we push our views too hard on others and try forcing them into believing what we believe, then we are only hurting ourselves and the people involve.
Why You Should Never Force Anyone To Talk To You.
We all have gone through this. Someone who wants nothing to do with us, but we try to make them talk to us. It’s hard to accept that someone doesn’t want to talk to us. It hurts our ego, and it makes us feel rejected.
But forcing people to talk to you is never a good idea. You should respect their wishes and leave them alone. Here are 8 reasons why you shouldn’t force people talk to you:
1. You Will Look Desperate.
It shows that you’re desperate. You will look like a hopeless person if you force someone to talk to you when they don’t want to.
If they don’t want anything to do with you, then let them be! They might not think highly of you anymore after seeing your desperate act.
You’re not being fair forcing people against their will is just wrong. We should respect other people’s decisions and not try to make them change their minds about things.
If they don’t want anything to do with you, then respect their decision and leave them alone.
2. It Can Be Rude.
You wouldn’t like it if someone forced you to talk to them so why would anyone else? Respect people’s boundaries and stop forcing them to speak to you.
If they’re in a foul mood, give them space. If they don’t want to speak with you, respect that and just walk away.
We all have bad days. Some days we just don’t feel like talking to people, for whatever reason. It’s no one’s fault but our own and even if we did have a good reason for not wanting to speak with others, it’s still not their fault.
We need space, time and peace and quiet. And when someone tries to force us into conversation we lose those three things almost instantly and all we feel is anger at the person who forced us into conversation and regret at allowing them to do so in the first place.
4. It May Put The Other Person In A Bad Situation.
This is why it’s better to just not ever force someone to talk. If someone really wants to talk, they will.
If you’re trying to force them and make them talk, it may just put the person in a bad situation. For example, if the person is feeling down or depressed, forcing them to talk can make them feel worse.
If you want to get someone to talk more, don’t force them. Instead, ask some questions about their life and about their interests.
When you do this, you’ll find that the person will open up much more than if you tried to force them into talking about something.
5. You May Risk Damaging Your Self-Worth.
Another reason why you should never force anyone to talk to you is because you may risk damaging your self-worth.
When someone wants to talk, they will. And when someone doesn’t want to talk, there’s no point in forcing them. Forcing them will only make things worse, and can also harm your self-worth.
The more you try and get someone to open up, the more they will resist, and the more you’ll feel like you’re not good enough.
To avoid this problem, simply don’t force people to talk. Know that some people are just private and that if they have a problem with you, they will tell you.
6. It Can Be Form Of Emotional Abuse.
Forcing someone to talk to you could be seen as an act of bullying. It can make the other person feel like you are trying to control them, and it can be a form of emotional abuse.
It may seem like you are just doing something nice by forcing someone to talk to you, but it can actually make them feel worse.
You should never force someone to talk to you because it is not good for them or their mental health.
7. You Will Lose Your Respect.
One of the reasons why you should never force anyone to talk to you is because you will lose your self respect.
I have seen many people who try to force others to talk to them and it always results in being ignored by that person for a lifetime.
You may think that I am exaggerating but its true. You see, many people like me are very sensitive when it comes to personal space.
If someone tries to cross our personal boundaries by forcing us to talk, we instantly know that they are not worthy of our attention. It means they don’t respect us and they want us only because they need us.
Just remember one thing: no one is ever going to give you more than what you demand from them, so don’t demand more than you deserve.
8. Everyone Has The Right To Be Left Alone.
It’s a basic human right, but it’s also the foundation of any healthy relationship.
Even if you’re in a relationship with someone, they still have the right to refuse to talk to you. They might need time and space to deal with something going on in their life or they might just want to relax and watch some television by themselves.
Reasons Why People May Not Open Up To Talk To You.
There are times when you might be disappointed because someone closest to you does not want to talk about something that is bothering him or her.
This can happen with people of all ages. A child, a partner, a friend or anyone else may find it difficult to talk about something that is bothering them for some reason.
This is why you should never force anyone to talk about something. You might have the best intentions but forcing someone to talk about something can have negative consequences.
Instead of pushing someone more into their shell, you should let them open up at their own pace and in their own time.
Here are few reasons why people may not open up to talk to you:
1. It’s Not About You.
The decision to open up is a very personal one, and it has nothing to do with how well your friendship is going.
A person who has chosen to open up to you is trusting you with a very big part of their life. But if they aren’t ready to make that same leap with you, it can be hard for them to say so.
2. They Might Be Uncomfortable.
Let me ask you a question.
Have you ever had someone try to force you (or maybe they just were overly persistent) to talk to them when you didn’t want to?
It’s not a pleasant experience, is it? It’s uncomfortable, and sometimes even downright scary.
And in the end, it makes you not want to talk to that person at all.
Comfort levels are different for everyone when it comes to disclosing painful or personal details about yourself.
Sometimes, people just don’t feel comfortable sharing those parts of themselves with friends, even if they’re close ones. Or maybe they’re fine talking about some topics, but not others.
3. They Might Be Scared.
If someone isn’t opening up to you because they’re scared, there may be something specific that frightens them like the prospect of losing your friendship if they do share certain details with you.
Or being judged by you for what they’ve gone through in the past or maybe it’s more general, like the fear of being rejected by you once they reveal everything that’s been going on in their lives.
4. You Can’t Force Them To Trust You.
Trust is an essential element of any friendship and relationship, but sometimes if someone can’t trust you enough then he or she may not open up to talk to you.
11 Things You Should You Do If Someone Doesn’t Want To Talk To You.
Sometimes people feel sick or they aren’t in a good mood. They probably won’t talk to you.
If a person doesn’t want to talk to you, they might be rude or unfriendly. But you shouldn’t think that it means they don’t like you.
I’ve been in a situation where I wanted to talk to someone, but they wouldn’t talk to me. And it’s not easy, but the best thing that you can do is learn how to handle the situation.
If someone refuses to talk with you, try not to take it personally. It doesn’t mean that the person hates you or doesn’t like you.
If someone refuses to talk with you, there are a few things that you can do about it:
Here are 11 things you should do if someone doesn’t want to talk to you:
1. Acceptance Is The First Step.
The first thing you need to do is accept that the person doesn’t want to talk to you. It might be because they are busy.
It could also be that they are not in a good mood or something else is going on in their mind. Whatever the reason, it’s not about you and more about them.
2. Don’t Take It Personally.
If a person doesn’t want to talk with you, don’t worry that he or she hates you or thinks bad things about you. Try not to think about why this person doesn’t want to talk with you.
It might be difficult but try not to take it personally when someone doesn’t want to talk to you as it has nothing to do with you.
People have their own reasons and problems that they are facing every day and sometimes they just don’t feel like talking to anyone at all.
3. Do Not Force Them.
Don’t push yourself on someone who doesn’t want to talk to you at all or else they will start avoiding you even more.
4. Don’t Assume Anything.
Do not assume things or else your assumptions may lead you into trouble.
Avoid thinking negative things about someone as it will only make things worse for yourself and your relationship with others around you.
There are many reasons why people don’t want to talk sometimes such as stress, depression etc so try not to make assumptions and don’t jump to conclusions.
5. Respect Their Choice.
If they don’t want to talk, respect their choice and leave them alone, until they decide that it’s time for them to talk.
Don’t push them to explain themselves, because this will only make things worse for both of you.
6. Give Them Space.
They need some space from you and that’s okay, because there are times when we all need some time alone so we can think about our own feelings and emotions without being interrupted by others.
7. Try Again Later.
Sometimes people just need time before they can talk about certain things with you again at which point it might be better for both of us if we wait until later in order for them to open up once more when they feel ready instead of forcing ourselves on them right.
8. Stop Trying.
If someone doesn’t want to talk, stop trying. If a person is not interested in talking then you have no business in pushing your luck and barging into their lives.
One of the reasons why some people don’t like opening up to others is because they are not comfortable with them and it would be best to give them their space if you want to gain their trust.
9. Accept The Fact That Not Everyone Will Like You.
You can’t force a person to become friends with you or even talk to you if they don’t want to.
Some people don’t even have the time or energy for it so just accept the fact that not everyone will like you, or even try getting to know you.
10. Try Hard Not To Read Too Much Into It.
Sometimes people just have a lot on their plate that they cannot find the time or energy to indulge in conversations with other people who they aren’t particularly close with yet.
Don’t let yourself get too caught up on why they turn down your attempts at talking and instead focus your attention on other things that can make you happy.
11. Check Yourself.
Are you the problem? Like, really check yourself. Maybe you are that person who never shuts up and it’s getting to be annoying.
Maybe your face looks like a butt, who knows. But really think about if it’s you, because if it is, you’re probably not going to get better, ever.
Negative Consequences/Effects Of Forcing People To Talk To You.
Here are some of the negative consequences and effects of forcing people to talk to you.
1. They May Not Be Emotionally With You.
On the other hand, if you force someone to talk to you, you might win that battle but you have lost the war. You have simply pressured them and manipulated them into talking to you. They are not really there with you. They’re just with you physically. They’re not mentally or emotionally with you.
The worst part is they are going to resent this because they know they were being forced into talking to you. You told them what to do and they obeyed it. You basically took away their power of choice and made a decision for them without permission or consent.
2. You Are Being Bothersome.
When you are forcing someone to talk to you, you are being a pain in their neck. Whether we like it or not, we all get annoyed by that one person who just keeps talking, even if we don’t want to hear it.
I mean, they tell us in movies and TV shows that putting headphones on is a sign that you don’t want to be disturbed, and the same goes for the people who simply say “I’m busy right now” and walk away. If you force yourself into their lives, it will only annoy them even more.
2. You May Annoy Them
It’s a simple fact of human nature: no one likes being forced into doing something they don’t want to do, especially when it’s something as intimate as having a conversation with someone.
When you force someone to talk to you, they’re going to be reluctant and annoyed at best, and downright hostile at worst.
Even if you think what you’re saying is important enough that the other person should listen anyway, think about how much your words will really matter when they’re delivered through clenched teeth and/or accompanied by middle fingers?
3. It’s Emotionally Exhausting.
When I was being forced into conversation all the time, I didn’t want to do anything else but escape my world of constant chatter and noise.
I wanted to go somewhere quiet where I could breathe and think without constant interruptions from other people.
When you force people into conversations against their will, they’ll just want it to end as soon as possible so they can get back to doing what they actually want to do.
4. It’s Psychologically Damaging.
Forcing someone into conversation is damaging for both parties and it can cause them both a lot of emotional pain.
This is especially important for young people who are still developing emotionally, so teachers need to be careful that they aren’t forcing conversations between students too frequently or without good reason.
If you force someone to talk to you, they will probably end up resenting you. It is better to give them time and space, as they will come around.
6. It Shows Disrespect For Them.
You are not respecting their feelings, needs and opinions by forcing your presence upon them, even when they do not want it or ask for it at all.
7. It Makes You Seem Weak.
People do not respect pushy, weak people who try to force them into talking with them, because the person is trying to avoid confrontation with themselves by avoiding being alone, and then passing that burden onto someone else.
8. Feeling Of Being Controlled.
This is not a good way to create lasting relationships with others because it makes other people feel like they have no control over their lives or choices.
It could lead to violence or assault if the person does not want to talk.
I think at the end of the day you should live your life by your own rules and be as positive as you can. Of course, these are just my opinions, so don’t feel like you have to live your life exactly how I believe it should be lived.
Above all else, remember that if someone doesn’t want to talk to you, then they don’t have to. And it’s hard to blame them—no one wants to be pushed by people into doing something they don’t want to do.
I really hope you enjoyed reading this blog post why you should not force someone to talk to you, and take something positive away from it.
Everyone needs to be told that they’re beautiful, important and loved…right?
